Directive Play Therapy Interventions with Childhood Anxiety

Anxiety is more prevalent in children than ever before.  With an increased ability to identify anxious feelings, children and caregivers are coming into therapy wanting to learn skills to overcome challenges with anxiety.  In this workshop, we will explore the diagnosis of anxiety in children as well as explore multiple directive interventions to use with children of all ages and their caregivers.

Objectives

1 - Demonstrate knowledge of at least 7 interventions to use with children with anxiety

2 - Recognize common symptoms of anxiety in children

3 - Articulate when it is appropriate to use directive interventions with children with anxiety

4 - Demonstrate knowledge of at least 3 interventions to use with children with anxiety & their caregivers
