Tweens & Teens in Play Therapy

Play therapy techniques and interventions are often thought of as a modality used with young children and while this is true, people of all ages can experience the benefits of play.  In this training we will explore the process of using play techniques and interventions with tweens and teens, learn how to recognize how their play differs from a younger population, and identify at least 3 specific toys/activities/games to utilize with this age group.

Objectives

1 - List 3 toys/activities/games that are beneficial with this age

2 - Identify & practice 2 directive interventions to use with this population

3 - Describe the developmental stage of tweens (10-12 years old) & identify how to build rapport

4 - Describe the developmental stage of teens (13-17 years old) & identify how to build rapport
